DUNKIN DEBATE DELAYED to DECEMBER

The scheduled November 14 Planning Board Public Hearing on the site plan for 1815 square foot Dunkin Donuts at the intersection of Route 12 and Upper Walpole Road has been delayed until December.

The agenda for the November 14 meeting states, “since Dunkin has no new information from NHDOT, they decided to wait to come in in December.” This is yet another continuation in the multi-year review of this proposed project, now from the October 2023 meeting.

Any new details will be reported in your December issue of THE WALPOLE CLARION

The FLAMINGOS are BACK – 4 September 2023

My son, Gary, just provided me with a link to a USA Today news story. Quoting the lead sentences in part, “Hurricane Idalia is being credited with delivering a flamingo-palooza to the Eastern United States this week. The iconic, pink plumaged birds first started showing up all over Florida, on both coasts and the northern Gulf Coast as Hurricane Idalia passed. By Saturday however, three days after landfall, flamingo sightings had been reported in Alabama, South and North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia. … It’s not unheard of for birds to be caught up in hurricanes and dropped out along the coasts. Birders sometimes refer to these incidents as “fallout.”

Captured on film in Ohio, “Jacob Roalef with Birding Ecotours was shocked to hear two flamingos were spotted in Caesars Creek State Park, 20 minutes away from his Ohio home.”

I quickly ran out with my camera, and yes the beloved pink birds made it back here as well, and it appears just in time for school.

Please remember, this is September and not April. Here is the link my son provided me:
