ZONING BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY 16 JULY – PLAN TO ATTEND

On Wednesday July 16, 7:00 pm at Town Hall, the Zoning Board will hold a Public Hearing concerning a neon sign, with changing information at the former Agway Store located at the intersection of Main Street onto Rte 12.  With a new owner, Blue Seal, other new signage has been approved, but Walpole’s sign provision No. 3 states “…oscillating, rotating flashing, neon, or other tubular gas signs are not permitted except when used for public safety purposed by a governmental entity.” The applicant is requesting an exception to this ordinance.

There is concern the neon sign is not only contrary to the current ordinance in our rural community, but it would present a safety issue when drivers are looking at the sign rather than the fact they have to merge from Main Street onto Rte 12.

It is important at a Public Hearing that residents attend and express their views, particularly when an exception to Walpole’s established regulations is requested.

Again, attend the Public Hearing Wednesday July 16, 7:00 pm at Walpole Town Hall.
