June 28 PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING – RECONSTRUCTION OF ROUTE 12
Wednesday, June 28, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will hold a Public Information Meeting to discuss the planned reconstruction of 3 miles of NH Route 12 in Walpole and Charlestown. This public meeting will be held at the North Walpole School, 17 Cray Road. An informal open house period for viewing and questions begins at 6:00 pm followed by a short presentation at 7:00 pm.
The project will reconstruct a section of NH Route 12, beginning just north of the intersection with Main Street in North Walpole, and extending approximately 3 miles north to the intersection with NH 12A in South Charlestown. The purpose of this project is to improve the safety of the corridor by widening the roadway and constructing paved shoulders, which will result in increased comfort during use by commercial vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as during maintenance activities. Proposed work includes full box reconstruction, riverbank slope stabilization, construction of stormwater treatment and drainage upgrades, as well as guardrail replacement.
The purpose of this meeting is to present citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project and to solicit public input in order to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs, community goals, and protect and enhance the environment.
For questions or additional information regarding the proposed project call (603) 271-2171. Additional information about the project can be found on the NHDOT web site at http://www.nh.gov/dot/projects/specifics.htm
